About Justin Gilbert
Justin Gilbert earned Unanimous All-American and first team All-Big 12 honors in 2013 while playing cornerback at Oklahoma State University. In 2012 he earned second team All Big 12 honors as a kick returner and first team All-Big 12 honors as a cornerback. Prior to heading to Oklahoma State he starred at Huntsville High School in Texas as a defensive back and quarterback. The Cleveland Browns selected Gilbert in the first round with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Having won the 2013 College Football Performance Award as the nation’s top defensive back, the Browns believed in his ability to become a shutdown corner, and he has exceeded their expectations. During his first season he recorded 29 tackles and defended 8 passes with one interception, sporting his 4.35 40-yard dash while pursuing opposing wide receivers and shutting down opposing offenses. Gilbert has a bright future in the National Football League, and has quickly become one of the most recognizable stars on the Browns’ roster.
