About Kent Hrbek
Kent Hrbek was a career Minnesota Twin and associated with the greatest run in team history. Hrbek played 14 seasons in the Twin Cities and won two World Series titles. He hit the first ever home run in the Metrodome in 1982 and that same season made his only All-Star team. In the 1987 World Series season, Hrbek blasted 34 home runs. He also hit a grand slam in Game 6 of the Series against the St. Louis Cardinals that put the game on ice. During the 1980s, he was one of the most feared hitters and top first baseman in baseball. The Twins honored his accomplishments by retiring his #14 jersey and naming him to the team’s Hall of Fame. In retirement, Hrbek hosted an outdoor sports show on a local FOX station in Minneapolis for six years. He is also a pitchman for Carrier Heating and Air Conditioning. Hrbek’s father passed away from ALS and he hosts an annual charity golf tournament. As a Minneapolis native, the former Twin has always been a beloved member of the community.
