About Kevin Jones
Kevin Jones has had a great deal of success on and off the football field. Jones first became known across the country as the number one recruit in the country out of Cardinal O'Hara in Pennsylvania. Jones decided to attend Virginia Tech and the rest was history. He finished second in school history with 3.475 rushing yards and 35 touchdowns. In 2003, he ran for 21 touchdowns on the way to being named a consensus All-American and first-team All-Big East pick.
Jones was selected in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions and was a 1,000-yard rusher as a rookie. After his first four seasons with the Lions, he also played for the Chicago Bears for two years. Jones retired officially in 2011 and went back to Virginia Tech to get a bachelor's degree in industrial design. In the past, he has served as Special Assistant to the Athletic Director for the Hokies. Jones was named to the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2016. He also co-founded a design company in Blacksburg in 2015.
