About Kim Ng
Kim Ng is the forrmer general manager of the Miami Marlins. Her post with the Marlins made her the first female GM and highest-ranking Asian-American front office executive in MLB history.
As a child her father taught her everything he knew about sports, and soon it became a passion for Ng. As a youngster she played tennis and went on to play softball at the University of Chicago from 1986 to 1990.
Upon graduating with a degree in public policy she began her career in Major League Baseball as an intern with the Chicago White Sox. In 1991 she was hired on full-time with the White Sox and eventually earned a spot as the teams Assistant Director of Baseball Operations in 1995.
Three years later she took her talents to the New York Yankees as the teams Assistant General Manager at age 29, making her the youngest person to hold that title in the big leagues. Since that time she took on an additional role as the teams Vice President, but decided in 2001 that she would enjoy serving in that same role with the Los Angeles Dodgers and headed to the west coast. In 2011 Ng took the position as Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations for Major League Baseball.
