Kirk Ferentz

Kirk Ferentz is a Pennsylvania native and played his college football at the University of Connecticut. Upon earning his degree he served as a student assistant at UConn and then made his way to Worcester Academy to serve as defensive coordinator. In 1980 he returned home to coach at the University of Pennsylvania where he helped the Panthers to an 11-1 and a No. 2 national ranking during his first year. In 1981 he was tapped to coach the offensive line at Iowa and sent eleven Hawkeyes players to the NFL from 1981 to 1989. After coaching two years at Maine from 1990 to 1992 he got the call to the NFL and served as the offensive line coach for both the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens from 1993 to 1993. In 1999 the University of Iowa offered him the position as their head coach and he accepted. Over the last 15 seasons he has led the Hawkeyes to a 127-105 record, 11 bowl games, and two Big Ten Championships in 2002 and 2004. In 2002 he was named Walter Camp National Coach of the Year and has also been named Big Ten Coach of the Year three times.
