About Louis Lipps
Louis Lipps was selected in the first round of the 1984 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers out of the University of Southern Mississippi. During his first year in the league he caught 45 passes for 860 yards and nine touchdowns and earned AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. That season he earned the Joe Greene Great Performance Award, and both Pro Bowl and NFL All-Pro honors. He topped that performance the following year, scoring 12 touchdowns on 1,134 receiving yards, earning him his second Pro Bowl selection and consecutive NFL All-Pro honors. He’d go on to play the first eight seasons of his career in Pittsburgh, earning Pittsburgh Steelers Team MVP honors in 1989 before retiring as a member of the New Orleans Saints in 1992. Lipps retired with 359 receptions, 6,019 receiving yards and 39 career touchdowns. After his retirement he began working at Steel City Mortgage Services in Pittsburgh and is currently the co-host of a weekly Steelers-themed radio broadcast which airs on ESPN radio 1250 AM.
