About Marcel Lachemann
Marcel Lachemann is a baseball lifer as a player, coach, and front office executive. Lachemann is currently a special assistant to the Los Angeles Angels general manager. He has had a long association with the franchise, serving as pitching coach twice and as manager in 1995 and 1996. When the expansion Florida Marlins came about in 1993, Lachemann was the pitching coach under his brother Rene, who was the team’s first manager. He also spent a season coaching with the Colorado Rockies. In addition to his big league coaching experience, Lachemann also has been on the staff for Team USA. He was the pitching coach for the U.S. in the 2006 World Baseball Classic, 2008 Olympics, and was bullpen coach for the 2013 WBC. Lachemann spent three seasons as a relief pitching with the Oakland Athletics, compiling a 7-4 record with a 3.44 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 102 innings.
