About Mark Kotsay
Mark Kotsay parlayed a lengthy playing and coaching career into his current role as manager of the Oakland Athletics. As a player, Kotsay appeared in over 1,900 games for seven franchises. After winning the Golden Spikes Award and Most Outstanding Player of the College World Series at Cal State Fullerton, he was drafted in the first round by the Florida Marlins in 1996. A year later, Kotsay made his major league debut and he became entrenched as the team's starting center fielder in 1998. He led the National League with 20 outfield assists as a rookie. After retiring, Kotsay coached for the San Diego Padres and the A's prior to his promotion.
