Matt Cain, also known as The Horse, Big Daddy or Big Sugar was born on October 1, 1984 in Dothan, Alabama. Cain began playing baseball at a young age and after his senior year in high school, the San Francisco Giants selected Cain in the 1st round of the 2002 MLB Draft. Cain’s professional career began in 2002 with the Arizona League Giants in the minor leagues. Cain also played for the Hagerstown Suns, San Jose Giants, Norwich Navigators, and the Fresno Grizzlies. On August 26, 2005, Cain was called up to join the Giants’ rotation. Cain made his Major League debut on August 29, 2005 against the Colorado Rockies. In 2006, Cain was named to the team’s starting rotation prior to the beginning of spring training. In his time with the Giants, Cain won three World Series. He was also a three-time MLB All-Star, Willie Mac Award winner and on June 13, 2012, Cain pitched a perfect game.
