Mimi Hughes is a well-known long distance swimmer. She began to swim at an early age and decided to use her swimming as a way to spread a message for a variety of worthy causes. She began her career in long distance swimming by crossing the Bering Strait, a swim which she dedicated to understanding between nations. She dedicates each of her swims to a noble cause in order to make it even more impactful. In her career she has swum the lengths of several recognizable rivers including the Tennessee, Danube, Drava, and Mura Rivers where she has dedicated the feat to environmental awareness in those respective locations. One of the swims she is known best for is her swim in the Ohio River that was dedicated to life skills training and education for women and girls.
