About Nick Anderson
Nick Anderson is a retired professional basketball player whose position was shooting guard/ small forward for the National Basketball Association. Anderson attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for two years. While on the team, Anderson helped the team reach the NCAA Final Four in 1989. The Orlando Magic selected Anderson as the 11th overall pick during the 1989 NBA Draft. Anderson became the first draft pick in Magic history, as they were an expansion team at the time. In his first few seasons with the Magic, Anderson was their top scorer and led the team in points per game during the 1991-92 season. On April 23, 1993, Anderson scored a career-high 50 points off the bench. During the 996-97 season, Anderson’s career took an abrupt downward spiral, due to the sudden inability to shoot free throws. During the 1997-98 season, his struggles worsened. Anderson was traded to the Sacramento Kings in 1999 where he spent two seasons. In 2001, he played for the Memphis Grizzlies where he spent a season before retiring.
