About Austin Carr
Austin Carr had a very successful basketball career in the pro and college arenas. Carr played nine of his ten seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was a 1974 All-Star and a 1972 All-Rookie selection. Carr helped the Cavs to their first three playoff appearances and his #34 jersey is retired by the franchise. The Cavaliers originally made him the number one pick of the 1971 NBA Draft out of Notre Dame. Carr was an even greater player at the college level. The 1971 Naismith College Player of the Year left South Bend as the NCAA’s fifth leading scorer all-time. During his three-year career, he averaged 34.5 points per game. Carr averaged 50 points per game in the NCAA Tournament and has a March Madness single-game record of 61 points. He is a member of the College Basketball Hall of Fame and Notre Dame Ring of Honor. Now the Cavaliers Director of Community Relations, Carr also is an analyst for the team’s games on Fox Sports Ohio.
