About Michael Pinball Clemons
Pinball Clemons is, quite simply, one of the most beloved sports personalities in Toronto history. Clemons has an incredible legacy as a former player, head coach and current general manager of the Toronto Argonauts. He spent 12 years as a player with the franchise, was a two-time CFL All-Star and holds the league record for career yardage. In 1990, Clemons was named CFL Most Oustanding Player after setting the CFL single-season record with 3,300 all-purpose yards. He also won three Grey Cups as a player in Toronto. Clemons immediately shifted over to coaching upon retirement and in parts of seven seasons guiding the Argos, he racked up 67 wins, good for second-most in franchise history. In 2004, he became the first black head coach to win the Grey Cup. Clemons retired from coaching in 2008 and was named Toronto's CEO. After a year in that role, he became the organization's Vice Chair until being named general manager in 2019. Prior to joining the Argonauts, Clemons spent one season in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs. He played college football at William & Mary and was a Division I-AA All-American. Clemson is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame and the Order of Ontario. His #31 jersey is retired by the Argonauts.
