Rich Ellerson

Rich Ellerson spent the last several years of his college years playing football for the University of Hawaii Warriors football team as a linebacker and center. Following his graduation Rich got his first experience as a coach. He became a graduate assistant for his alma mater for a year and then spent the next two decades gaining more experience and learning the nuances of the game in various assistant positions before landing his first head coaching position. In 2001, Ellerson took over as the head coach for the Cal Poly football program where he eventually became the third most successful coach in school history based on his 52-38 record in his eight year tenure along with winning 3 Great West Championships ad several coach of the year awards. From 2009-2013, Ellerson was the coach of Army, where he has several special connections to the program with his father and two brothers having attended West Point.
