About Richard Dent
After playing four years in college at Tennessee State University, Richard Dent was drafted in the eighth round of the 1983 NFL Draft. Dent became known as a great pass rusher who could beat offensive tackles with his speed. He is a member of the 100 Sacks Club having had 137.5 in his career. Rich was also a 4 time Pro Bowl selection, a 5 time All-Pro and 2 time Super Bowl Champion. It was Rich that helped lead the Bears to one of its most spectacular seasons in 1985 where the team has a 15-1 record where Rich had 17 sacks. His performance in that seasons Super Bowl XX victory over the New England Patriots earned him Super Bowl MVP honors. Following the end of his career as a player Dent became a nominee for the Pro Football Hall of Fame several times including being among the top 15 finalists, and finally was selected and inducted as part of the 2011 class.
