About Scott Shafer
Scott Shafer has coached college football for over two decades and is one of the top young coaches in the game. After playing collegiately at Ohio and Baldwin-Wallace and earning both his bachelors and masters degrees in Education he began what would become a successful coaching career at Rhode Island in 1993. Over the next 16 years he saw time as the defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator at Northern Illinois, Illinois, Western Michigan, Stanford, Michigan and Syracuse before landing the head-coaching job at Syracuse in 2013. During that time he was a part of several successful coaching staffs that captured multiple bowl wins. During his first season at Syracuse in 2013 he led the Orange to a 7-6 record and a win in the Texas Bowl. Looking forward he is setting up one of the top programs in the country with solid recruiting classes that will no doubt bring success to the university for the foreseeable future.
