About Sean Kugler
Sean Kugler is the head football coach at his alma mater, the University of Texas-El Paso. He has been coach of the Miners since the 2013 season. After a 2-10 record in his first season, Kugler elevated UTEP to a 7-6 mark and an appearance in the New Mexico Bowl in 2014. Prior to arriving in El Paso, he accumulated diverse coaching experience that included work on the college and NFL level. Kugler was hired to UTEP after serving as the offensive line coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers for three seasons. He also coached with the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions. On the college side, Kugler's last position prior to becoming a head coach was as associate head coach and offensive line coach at Boise State in 2006. That year, the Broncos finished undefeated and scored a historic upset over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. From 1993-2000, Kugler served in a variety of roles on the UTEP coaching staff. His coaching career began on the high school level in Tampa, Florida.
