Sig Hansen

Sig Hansen is the Captain of the fishing vessel Northwestern. At 14 years old, Hansen began fishing while working on his family’s boat. After graduating from high school, Hansen began fishing year-round and would spend on average 10 months in Alaska. Hansen’s career started as a deckhand on his father’s boat prior to his teenage years. He worked his way up the ranks and at 22; Hansen became a “relief skipper.” At 24, Hansen began running the Northwestern full-time. Throughout the years, the Northwestern has become a top producer and with Hansen at its helm for nearly 20 years, there has never been a death at sea. The Northwestern won the final derby seasons and took home the titles in 2005 for King Crab and 2006 for Opilio. Hansen serves as the full-time captain for king crab and opilio crab seasons as of 2011. He provided the voice for the boat named Crabby in the film Cars 2.
