About Ted Ligety
Ted Ligety is an Olympic Alpine Ski Racer who represents the United States in various events.Ligety was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and started skiing at age 2, then started racing at age 10.After being named to the U.S. Skiing Development team in 2004, Ligety would go on to win asilver medal at the Junior World Championships, which led to his addition to the U.S. Ski teamin 2005. At the 2006 Olympics in Turin, Ligety hadhis first major victory, winning gold in themen’s combined event. Throughout the years, Ligetywould win multiple gold medals at variousWorld Championships, winning a total of four gold medals and one bronze medal. In 2014,Ligety entered the 2014 Olympics in Sochi as an overall favorite, and he did not disappoint,winning a gold medal in the Giant Slalom event. Over his ten year career, Ligety has won 23times, and has finished on the podium 46 times, making him one of the greatest Americanskiers in history.
