About Tommy Casanova
From 1969-1971, Tommy Casanova was a household name to any college football fan as the defensive back for the LSU Tigers was constantly making headlines. Casanova was a three time All-American for LSU (the only LSU player to do so) and was virtually in on every play as a defensive back, running back, and return specialist. The College Football Hall of Famer went on to play 5 seasons in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals where he made 4 straight appearances in the Pro Bowl. Casanova retired from the game after a short career and began to focus on a career as an ophthalmologist. In 1995 he also entered the realm of politics and in 1996 was elected to the Louisiana State Senate as a Republican which he held for a single term before returning to his ophthalmology practice.
