About Tony Elliott
Prior to taking the University of Virginia job, Tony Elliott was coveted as a future head coach around the country. Elliott garnered respect during a decade-plus run at Clemson. He started out as Dabo Swinney's running backs coach in 2011. After he was named co-offensive coordinator in 2015, the Tigers went on to win two national championships. Elliott was also the Briles Award winner as the top assistant coach in college football in 2017. He became the sole offensive coordinator in 2020 and added associate head coach duties in 2021. Elliott's success at Clemson was fitting, since he was a former team captain as a player. He also spent his entire coaching career in South Carolina before arriving in Charlottesville, beginning with assistant roles at South Carolina State and Furman.
