Turner Gill

Coming from Fort Worth, Texas in 1980, Turner Gill was a highly recruited athlete who eventually chose the University of Nebraska since he would be allowed to play both baseball and football. On the gridiron, Gill took over the starting job midway through his sophomore season and never relinquished it. He led the Corn Huskers to a 28-2 record as a starter with 3 outright Big 8 Titles and 3 straight seasons of falling just shy of the National Championship. Following college, Gill signed a contract with the Canadian Football League where he stayed very briefly before retiring from football due to post-concussion symptoms. Gill also gave professional baseball a try before electing to return to the game of football as a coach. Starting as a GA at his alma mater, Gill worked his way around the college football ranks before returning to Nebraska again as a positional coach. After one season as an assistant with the Green Bay Packers, Gill was offered his first head coaching job by the University of Buffalo. Gill turned the UB program around, including winning the MAC Championship in his 3rd year as head coach. He has since held the head coaching position at the University of Kansas and is currently the HC for Liberty University and has compiled a career 48-63 coaching record.
