About Bernie Carbo

Bernie Carbo was a standout slugger during his 12-year major league career. While he played for six different franchises, he is best known for his time with the Boston Red Sox. Carbo had the most memorable moment of his career in Game 6 of the 1975 World Series. He hit a pinch hit three-run home run that tied the game and paved the way for Carlton Fisk's iconic extra-inning game-winning homer. Carbo spent parts of five seasons in Boston and was inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2004. The Cincinnati Reds originally selected him in the first round of the 1965 MLB Draft. Carbo had the best season of his career as a rookie with the Reds in 1970. He hit .310 with 21 homers and 63 RBI and finished second in National League Rookie of the Year voting. Carbo also played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers, Cleveland Indians and Pittsburgh Pirates.
