About Brent Sutter
Brent Sutter is a former NHL centre and head coach who last served as the head coach of the CalgaryFlames in 2012. Prior tobecoming a coach, Sutter was a centre in the NHL, playing 18 seasons with theNew York Islanders and the Chicago Blackhawks.Sutter played 1111 regular season games over hiscareer, finishing with 829 points as well as 74 points in 144 playoffappearances. Following hisretirement in 1998, Sutter pursued a career in coaching, leading the Canadian Junior ice hockeyteam toconsecutive gold medals at the 2005 and 2006 World Championships. His first professional headcoaching job camewith the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL, coaching the team for seven seasons beforeleaving to get his first NHL coaching jobwith the New Jersey Devils. Sutter led the Devils to their bestrecord in franchise history in 2009, but he stepped down after theseason citing family reasons. Twoweeks later, Sutter was announced as the head coach of the Calgary Flames, but his contractwas notrenewed after three straight seasons of missing the playoffs.
