About Bob Hartley
Bob Hartley is an Ontario native and has been around the sport of hockey his entire life. Although he never played a game in the NHL, he became one of the game’s most successful coaches.
His coaching career began in the Junior A league in his hometown of Hawkesbury, Ontario, where he led his team to a league championship while also earning coach of the year honors.He went on to serve as the head coach of Laval Titans and led them to a Memorial Cup appearance in 1993.
After that season he signed on with the Quebec Nordiques in the American Hockey League and led them to four consecutive Calder Cup appearances, winning the title in 1997.The following season he was named the head coach of the Colorado Avalanche and won 44 games in his first season.In fact, during his first five seasons with the Avalanche his teams won an average of 46 games and won five consecutive NHL Northwest division championships, with a Stanley Cup victory in 2001.
He also coached the Atlanta Thrashers and Calgary Flames.Overall, he led his teams to 463 victories and five division championshps.Hartley also was the head coach of Avangard Omsk of Russia's Kontinental Hockey League.
