About Dayton Moore
Dayton Moore is a senior advisor of baseball operations with the Texas Rangers with a respected career as a front office executive. Moore most notably guided the Kansas City Royals as general manager from 2006-2022, when he also acquired the title of Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations
During his time in Kansas City, Moore turned around the fortunes of the franchise. His efforts culminated in a trip to the World Series in 2014 and the first championship in 30 years a year later with their Fall Classic victory over the New York Mets. During that 2015 season, they led the American League with 95 wins and captured the first AL Central division title in franchise history. Moore won the Esurance MLB Best Executive Award.
From 2009-2015, the team improved their win total each year. Under Moore's guidance, the Royals were named the Organization of the Year in 2014 by Baseball America.
Before joining Kansas City, he honed his skills for identifying talent and building a winner with the Atlanta Braves. He joined the Braves front office in 1994, smack dab in the middle of one of the greatest runs by any franchise in baseball history. After starting in the Atlanta scouting department, Moore rose to the title of Assistant General Manager before leaving for the Royals.
Moore's career in baseball began at his alma mater, George Mason. Moore was an assistant coach for GMU's baseball team from 1990-1994 while also managing the Winchester Royals summer league team.
