Derrick Coleman, who has been legally deaf since he was three years old, starred at UCLA before being signed by the Minnesota Vikings as a non-drafted free agent in 2012. After being waived by the Vikings he was signed by the Seattle Seahawks and helped them to a Super Bowl Championship in 2013.
Coleman became an internet sensation in January when he appeared in a Duracell commercial plotting his amazing journey to the NFL, overcoming numerous obstacles to become a star on the Seattle Seahawks 2013 Super Bowl championship team. In just a couple months, the Duracell advertisement amassed nearly 22.5 million views on YouTube alone. Since that time he’s become a brand ambassador for companies like Starkey Hearing Technologies and also become a highly sought after inspirational speaker, traveling the country to speak at events.
