About Fernando Rodney
Fernando Rodney is one of the hardest throwers in baseball and the closer for the Seattle Mariners. Rodney led the majors with 48 saves for the Mariners in 2014. He also made his second All-Star appearance. His 2012 season was also spectacular. Rodney had 48 saves for the Tampa Bay Rays and an MLB relief record 0.60 ERA. Those impressive credentials won him the American League Comeback Player of the Year and Delivery Man of the Year. Rodney originally came up with the Detroit Tigers in 2002. He originally became a closer on the big league level in 2005 and bounced in and out of that role. Rodney signed with the Tigers out of the Dominican Republic in 1997. Internationally, he won a gold medal for his country in the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Rodney is a colorful presence on the mound well known for his “bow and arrow” routine after converting every save.
