About Kevin Cheveldayoff
Kevin Cheveldayoff has been the Winnipeg Jets general manager and executive vice president since 2011. He helped the franchise transition from Atlanta to Winnipeg. Cheveldayoff got his first job as an NHL executive as the Chicago Blackhawks assistant general manager in 2009. He spent two seasons with the franchise and won a Stanley Cup in 2010. Following his playing career, Cheveldayoff started as an assistant coach with the International Hockey League's Denver Grizzlies. The team won back-to-back Turner Cups with him on the staff. After winning those championships, Cheveldayoff moved on in the league to become the general manager of the Chicago Wolves. The Wolves also won two IHL titles before being absolved into the American Hockey League. With Cheveldayoff still at the helm, they won two more championships in the AHL. As a player, he was a junior hockey standout that was selected 16th overall in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders. Unfortunately, a knee injury cut his career short and he never played in the NHL.
