Mark Rypien

Mark Rypien, a veteran NFL quarterback, was born in Canada in October of 1962 and moved to the United States at age 3. In his early years, Rypien excelled in football, basketball, and baseball to the extent that his high school in Washington ultimately retired all three of his jersey numbers. Rypien graciously accepted a full boat football scholarship at Washington State and played quarterback for the Cougars until a knee injury left him inactive. However, Rypien was redshirted and later drafted in the 1986 NFL Draft, being selected by the Washington Redskins. Rypien played for the Redskins until 1993, at which time he was then traded quite frequently until his retirement from the NFL in 2006. Throughout his time in the NFL, Rypien was a two-time Super Bowl Champion and the Super Bowl XXVI MVP. He retired from the game of football after playing a final season for the Rochester Raiders, a professional indoor football team out of New York. Rypien humbly concluded his time with the NFL with an impressive 78.9 QB rating and even had a brief moment with NASCAR as a team owner. As a retiree, Rypien is known to spend his free time golfing, with his family, or inspiring others to reach their full potential.
