About Mike Ramsey
Mike Ramsey played as a defenseman in the NHL with the Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings from 1980 to 1996. Ramsey attended Theordore Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis and matriculated to the University of Minnesota, where he became one of their top defenseman from 1974 to 1978. After attending the U.S. National Junior training camp in 1978 he participated in the 1979 World Junior Championships and then helped the United States to a gold medal in the 1980 Winter Olympic Games. During his NHL career he was named to four AllStar teams and scored 79 goals to go along with 266 assists for a total of 345 points in 1,070 career games. He also notched eight goals and 29 assists for a total of 37 points in 115 playoff games. Ramsey is known best for his time on the U.S. National Team when they won a gold medal in the 1980 Olympics, which has become known as the “Miracle On Ice.”
