About Rosey Grier
Rosey Grier first came to stardom as a professional football player in the NFL. After a career at Penn State University as a defensive lineman, Grier was drafted into the NFL by the New York Giants. He played for 7 seasons for the Giants and made two trips to the Pro Bowl as well as one trip to the NFL Championship. He was then a member of the Fearsome Foursome as a part of the Los Angeles Raiders defensive line. He retired from the game in 1967 due a torn Achilles and finished his career with 44.5 career sacks. Grier hosted his own show in LA following his retirement before beginning a career as a body guard for Senator Robert F. Kennedy. He was protecting Kennedys wife at the time of the assassination but ran ahead to subdue and arrest the gunman. He followed that career up with a successful transition into acting, making over 70 guest TV appearances. Grier is also well known for his community service efforts and in 1983 was ordained a Christian minister.
