About Steve Garvey
Steve Garvey played all 19 of his big league seasons in sunny Southern California with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. Garvey's career is one of the most highly regarded in the history of the Dodgers, having earned eight consecutive All-Star appearances from 1974-1981. He also earned National League Most Valuable Player honors in 1974 after belting 21 home runs and posting a .312 batting average to go along with 111 RBI and 95 runs scored. The highlight of his career came in 1981 when he led the Dodgers to a World Series title. Three years later, he helped the Padres reach their first World Series in franchise history.
Garvey retired in 1987 as a ten-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove recipient. He has remained active as a corporate pitchman, Dodgers ambassador and leading motivational speaker. Garvey is also known for his involvement in various philanthropic efforts throughout Southern California.
