About Jim Plunkett
Jim Plunkett is a two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback who played for the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, and Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders. Plunkett was the number one overall pick of the Patriots in the 1971 NFL Draft and is known as one of the best quarterback prospects of all-time. With the Raiders, he gained greater notoriety and was able to revive his career. Plunkett was MVP of Super Bowl XV after throwing for 261 yards and three touchdowns. In college at Stanford, he was even a bigger star. Plunkett won the Heisman Trophy in 1970 and led the Cardinal to their first Rose Bowl since 1952. He is largely credited with ushering big passing offenses into college football. His background as a Mexican-American made him a role model to all Latinos throughout his career. Plunkett remains close to the Raiders franchise and hosts a weekly highlights show for the team.
