Sandy Alderson

Sandy Alderson is the general manager of the New York Mets. Alderson has been the Mets GM since 2010 and he has remade the organization. In 2015, New York made their first World Series appearance since 2000. That season, Alderson was named Baseball America Major League Executive of the Year. Prior to arriving in the Big Apple, he was the San Diego Padres CEO from 2005-09. During that time, Alderson also taught at the University of California's Berkeley Haas School of Business. Prior to rejoining a front office, he was the executive vice president of baseball operations for Major League Baseball from 1998-2005. Alderson first got involved with baseball as the Oakland Athletics general counsel in 1981. He was named general manager in 1983 and the A's won the 1989 World Series under his watch. Oakland also won three American League pennants. They produced stars like Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco during that period as well. Alderson is a graduate of Harvard Law School. He is a former member of the United States Marine Corps who served as tour of duty in Vietnam.
